Week 06 (Démie)

So, I did work "a little" on the pirate during the week.
This is what I have showed to Mr Vinh on Monday.

We talked about composition and the fact that the curtains were too regular and like 3 "same size" masses, and also how the pants and the sleeves are too pale. Though the sleeves are at 30% value, it still appears almost white, because the rest is so dark...

So here, I did a resize of the frame and pushed the curtains inward; I gave a little angle to the yellowish one, to cut the "linear/same shape" mass on the back. I also darken the pants and the sleeves, and started some folding details. The face is not finished yet and because I made major corrections between week 5 and 6, the whole size of the head is not too small; I'll correct that when all will be done and all my different layers of lights & shadows will be merged.

Still so far from finished; any comment to make it better / correct weak parts are welcome!

Week 5 (Démie)

Hello, I have retouched (refined) the sketching of my pirate today (without pictures).
I also started to make some modifications with references (boots, chest, skull...) I'm also planing on a background (more draperie with a hidden skeleton, navigation tools/weapons/liquor/treasures, maps...)

So far, here's what I'm at.
I notice some perspective problems with the boots (can't fix it now; need the model...)
Edit: I just noticed that by cleaning up the sketching lines, I have removed the lines for the chest straps; going to fix that later!!

Comments and constructive critique are more than welcome :P

Drapery

Drapery- Analyse : Points of tension -Different types of drapery

Feedback: Victoria, Demie, Stephanie

final (incomplete)

I'm continuing to work on this but unfortunately I couldn't get it to a point where it is complete in time for class today.

This is the current status of my piece
Still struggling to create realistic lighting scenarios that make the figure look like they are actually in the space.

Week 5 - Démie (unfinished) :'(

Ok, so I've worked on it until the very last minute, but it's still unfinished :'(
The spikes of her necklace are not done at all, nor the "gling-gling" jewels around the horns and the forehead, and obviously, the lance and the shield either. I'm still uncertain if I'll do the pattern on the fabric of her pants or not... Do I have to mention that I didn't have time for the background?! :s

week 3

my progress at the end of class last week

Current progress right now! Been trying to get the shapes of the inorganic elements right so I can focus on the figure more later.

Going to add some thumbnails for background ideas to this thread later!

Week3 - Stephanie

Hi Charles,
I focused on the skin rendering but the head's proportions feel a bit off ? I dropped the background for the moment. Also the blue tint was confusing me so I went with a darker skin tone and was thinking on applying the blue on another layer to make it look better.

Thank you !
